Match Analysis
We only just scrapped an eleven together with Jordan taking to the nets after a late fitness test on Saturday afternoon. Luke filled in the middle with Tino & Raj. After a disappointing performance the last week and with a depleted squad available up against a strong Silverdale outfit we were not sure how the game would go. We should not have feared, the scoreline is not a reflection of the quality and effort put in by the ladz today. There were some great personal performances and real grit and determination by several of the ladz who played really well, Josh up front who worked really hard in a lone striker role, H down the left who worked his socks off and Raj and Tino in the middle who put in monster performances. These were only topped by the stand in keeper of the day Bank who was awesome both in his own game and motivating his team-mates. The Bombers were undone on the day by some quality dead ball crosses from corners and fantastic finishing by Silverdale, 2 late first half goals (in the last two minutes of the half) and a freak 5th goal in the second half, our goal came from an inspiriational move (some might say) H won the ball in the corner (defending half of the pitch) squared it across the goal line to Jordan who launched it up to Josh who ran on to take the keeper on one-on-one and beat him to bring the scores to 1-2 Silverdale. The two late goals hurt us and effectively took the game away from us. Luke went in nets second half with Jordan back in midfield and we did create chances but could not finish. It was nice to see Raj taking on the shot from the edge of the box, he has the ability to add goals to his game. In the end Silverdale ran out worthy winners because of their quality set plays but on another day we will run them closer Another excellent game of football and a credit to SCYL.
